Ingredients
- Empanada dough (homemade or store bought)
- Ground beef
- Onion, finely chopped
- Garlic cloves, minced
- Olive oil
- Cumin
- Paprika
- Oregano
- Tomato paste or sauce
- Water or broth
- Eggs (for brushing)
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a pan and cook onions until soft.
- Add garlic and ground beef, breaking it apart while cooking.
- Once browned, stir in cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Add tomato paste and a small amount of water or broth, then simmer until thick.
- Let the filling cool completely.
- Roll out dough and cut into circles.
- Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle.
- Fold into a half moon shape and seal edges firmly with a fork.
- Preheat oven to 190°C.
- Arrange empanadas on a lined baking tray.
- Brush tops with beaten egg.
