Description
This Beef and Cheese Croissant Breakfast Casserole is warm, cheesy, and comforting—perfect for busy mornings, holiday brunches, or weekend family breakfasts. Buttery croissants are layered with savory diced beef, Swiss cheese, and fluffy egg custard, baked to golden perfection. It’s easy to prepare ahead of time and makes a hearty, crowd-pleasing dish.
Ingredients
- 6–8 croissants (preferably day-old, torn into chunks)
- 2 cups diced beef
- 2 cups shredded Swiss cheese (or cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk (regular or dairy-free alternative)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
- Optional: fresh herbs (parsley, chives)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a large baking dish.
- Tear croissants into large chunks and layer them evenly in the dish.
- Top with diced beef and a generous sprinkle of Swiss cheese.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissants, beef, and cheese.
- Press down lightly so croissants soak up the custard.
- Bake for 35–45 minutes, until the top is golden and the center is set.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
Use slightly stale croissants so they soak up the custard without getting soggy. This casserole can be assembled the night before, refrigerated, and baked fresh in the morning. For variety, try adding vegetables like spinach or mushrooms, or bake in a muffin tin for individual portions.
