Description
Butter Swim Biscuits are the easiest, most buttery biscuits you’ll ever make. Instead of rolling and cutting, the dough is spread into a pool of melted butter where it bakes into golden, fluffy squares. Crispy on the edges, soft in the center, and rich with buttery flavor, these biscuits are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or holidays.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F. Place butter in an 8×8 or 9×9 baking dish and let it melt in the oven.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Pour in buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Spread the dough evenly into the butter-filled dish. Score the top into 9 squares.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
- Let cool slightly before cutting and serving.
Notes
For crispier edges, use a cast iron skillet. Add shredded cheese, garlic powder, or herbs for savory biscuits. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
