Description
These Glazed Carrots are the ultimate Thanksgiving side dish – tender, buttery, and perfectly sweet with a glossy brown sugar and honey glaze. Simple to prepare and stunning on any holiday table, they bring comfort, color, and irresistible flavor to every meal.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs fresh or baby carrots, peeled and trimmed
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Peel and trim the carrots, slicing into even coins or use baby carrots.
- Boil or steam the carrots in salted water until just tender, about 6–8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Stir in brown sugar and honey until smooth and bubbling.
- Add the carrots to the glaze, tossing to coat evenly. Simmer for 5–7 minutes, until the sauce thickens and clings to the carrots.
- Season with salt, pepper, and optional cinnamon or nutmeg. Stir well.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm with any holiday meal.
- For roasted glazed carrots, bake at 400°F for 20 minutes for a caramelized finish.
Notes
Use baby carrots for convenience and consistent cooking. Don’t overcook – they should be tender but not mushy. Make ahead by cooking the carrots, refrigerating, and reheating in glaze before serving. For variety, try maple syrup instead of honey or add a touch of garlic and thyme for a savory twist.
