Description

This Halloween Graveyard Chocolate Poke Cake is a spooky, fun, and delicious dessert perfect for parties, family gatherings, or school events. With a moist chocolate cake base, creamy pudding filling, and Oreo ‘dirt’ topping, it’s decorated with edible tombstones, ghosts, and pumpkins for the ultimate festive treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • Eggs, oil, and water (as per package directions)
  • 2 boxes instant chocolate pudding mix
  • Cold milk
  • Whipped topping or chocolate frosting
  • Crushed Oreos (for dirt)
  • Milano or graham cookies (for tombstones)
  • Melted chocolate or icing (for writing ‘RIP’)
  • Marshmallows (for ghosts)
  • Candy pumpkins
  • Halloween sprinkles
  • Optional: gummy worms, candy bones, edible glitter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare boxed chocolate cake mix according to package directions. Bake in a 9×13-inch pan until done. Let cool completely.
  2. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes evenly across the cake surface.
  3. Prepare chocolate pudding mix with cold milk. While still slightly runny, pour over cake, filling the holes. Let pudding set.
  4. Spread whipped topping or chocolate frosting evenly over the cake.
  5. Sprinkle crushed Oreos over the frosting to create a dirt layer.
  6. Decorate: write ‘RIP’ on cookies to make tombstones and insert into the cake. Add marshmallow ghosts, candy pumpkins, and sprinkles. Optional: add gummy worms, candy bones, or edible glitter for extra effect.

Notes

For best results, decorate just before serving to keep toppings fresh. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days. If making ahead, complete cake and pudding layers, but add decorations later.
