Description
This homemade cranberry sauce bursts with fresh, tangy flavor balanced by honey, orange zest, and warm spices. Ready in just 15 minutes, this easy, all-natural recipe is the perfect sweet-tart addition to any holiday meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/2 cup honey (or more to taste)
- 1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup water
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Rinse and drain the cranberries, discarding any soft or discolored ones.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine orange juice, water, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until honey dissolves.
- Add the cranberries and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the orange zest.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more honey.
- Allow to cool completely before serving. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
Notes
For a smoother texture, mash the berries with a spoon while simmering or blend slightly after cooling. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Serve alongside turkey, ham, or as a topping for breakfast or desserts.
