Description

These Parchment Paper Gyros are a simple and flavorful oven dinner that transforms seasoned ground beef into juicy, tender gyro-style slices without the need for a rotisserie. Wrapped tightly in parchment paper, the meat stays moist while developing rich Mediterranean flavor, making it perfect for wraps, bowls, or an easy family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped or grated
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet if desired.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, paprika, cumin, oregano, black pepper, salt, and olive oil.
  3. Mix thoroughly until the meat becomes smooth and slightly sticky.
  4. Lay out a large sheet of parchment paper and shape the meat into a tight log in the center.
  5. Roll the parchment tightly around the meat and twist both ends securely.
  6. Place the wrapped meat on a baking sheet and bake for 55–65 minutes, or until fully cooked.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the meat rest for 10 minutes before unwrapping.
  8. Slice the gyro meat into thin strips.
  9. For crispier edges, quickly sear the sliced meat in a hot skillet for 2–3 minutes.
  10. Serve in warm pita bread, over rice, or in bowls with your favorite toppings and sauce.

Notes

Roll the parchment paper as tightly as possible to help the meat hold its shape. Let the cooked meat rest before slicing to keep it juicy. For authentic texture, slice the meat very thin and crisp it briefly in a hot skillet before serving.
