Description

This Taco Seasoning is a simple homemade spice blend packed with bold flavor and made from pantry staples. Perfect for tacos, burritos, taco salads, nachos, and more, it is customizable, preservative-free, and ready in minutes.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon paprika or smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure all spices carefully.
  2. Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to a small mixing bowl.
  3. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is evenly combined.
  4. Break up any clumps using a spoon or small whisk.
  5. Transfer the seasoning blend to an airtight spice jar or container.
  6. Store in a cool, dry place until ready to use.
  7. Use approximately 2 tablespoons of seasoning per pound of meat or protein.

Notes

For a smoky flavor, use smoked paprika. Reduce or omit salt for a low sodium version. Increase cayenne pepper for extra heat. This seasoning stays fresh for up to 6 months when stored properly in an airtight container.
